Woman facing neglect, DUI charges after crashing head-on into semi truck with four children in car

A woman is facing multiple charges after driving head-on into an oncoming semi truck in Las Vegas on Halloween night. 

The accident happened on October 31st at around 9:45 p.m. in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

According to 8 News Now, the semi truck was stopped facing westbound at the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue and Marion Drive when a Mitsubishi failed to maintain its lane and crashed head-on into the stopped truck. 

At the scene, the truck driver told police he believed that the motorist, 29-year-old Kayla Gonzales might be impaired. Gonzales, an adult passenger, and four children in the backseat were taken to a nearby hospital following the incident. 

Gonzales was unconscious at the hospital, while the four children, all under ten, were treated for their injuries. Two of the children sustained only minor injuries while two others sustained a pelvic fracture, a skull fracture, and a brain bleed. Another adult passenger in the car sustained a broken leg. 

Gonzales has since been released from the hospital and was booked into the Clark County Detention Center. She is facing facing several counts of child abuse or neglect, allowing child abuse or neglect, and DUI charges.
