Wrecked driver rescued in five feet of water

A truck driver was rescued during a storm that left nearly five feet of water along an Interstate in Texas on Monday. 

The accident happened in Laredo, Texas along Interstate 35 at around 1 p.m. on August 15th. 

According to KGNS+ News, the details of the collisions are not clear, but the driver was in critical condition and pinned to the steering wheel in high water. They were conscious as crews worked for 40 minutes to free them from the truck. 

The driver is said to be 20-years-old, and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. 

DPS is investigating the crash, and the roadway has since been reopened to the public.
