Wrong-way 80-year-old motorist killed in collision with semi

Published:

An elderly woman was killed in a wreck with a semi truck in North Dakota on Monday morning.

The accident happened on April 18th on Highway 23 near New Town.

According to West Dakota Fox, a tanker truck hauling diesel was heading west on Highway 23 when the 80-year-old driver in a pickup turned east into the westbound lanes.

The truck driver attempted to avoid the wrong way pickup, but was unsuccessful. Both vehicles collided and ended up in a roadside ditch. The 80-year-old, unnamed woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say that the roads were slick with snow and ice, and dense fog created poor visibility in the area at the time of the wreck. The incident is still under investigation.
