Published:

A man was found dead on a New York highway on Monday after colliding with a semi truck just twelve hours earlier.

The initial accident happened on Sunday, May 29th at around 11:16 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the Thruway just south of Exit 23 in Bethlehem, New York.

According to Syracuse News, Michael T. Tran was heading north in the southbound lanes of the New York State Thruway when he collided with a semi truck. Police were called to the scene, but Tran walked away from the scene before officers could arrive. Police searched the area, but Tran was nowhere to be found.

Twelve hours later at around 11:49 a.m the following day, Tran was found dead in the median of the Thruway south of Exit 23. Police believe that Tran was struck by another vehicle sometime after leaving the initial crash.

It is unclear whether the motorist stopped after hitting Tran, and it is not clear when exactly he was struck. State police ask anyone with information or who may have witnessed this incident to contact them at 518-783-3211.
