A pickup driver traveling the wrong way on a Washington interstate caused a “serious injury” crash on Sunday.

The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. on October 16 in Benton County, Washington.

Pickup driver Roberto Ramirez, 37, was driving east in the westbound lanes of I-82 at mile marker 105 when he collided with a semi truck driver by Emil Karimov, 53, resulting in what Washington State Trooper C. Thorson called a “serious injury collision.”

Both Ramirez and Karimov were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Local news outlets report that charges are pending against Ramirez.

Police are still investigating the crash.
