$15.5k fine issued for grossly oversize load

A massive fine was issued to a trucking company for a very oversize load in Connecticut on Wednesday morning.

The Connecticut State Police Truck Squad noticed the rig on Interstate 95 southbound in Fairfield on May 24th and believed it to be overweight.

Once they pulled the semi truck over, officers realized that the truck driver did not possess a permit for the oversize load, and escorted the truck to the southbound Fairfield rest area for an inspection.

The officers then used portable scales to determine that the rig’s weight was 117,600 pounds – 37,600 pounds over the weight allowed without a permit. After other violations were discovered during the inspection, officers placed the tractor trailer out of service and issued a $15,470 fine.

Information on the other violations was not released.
