9-year-old passenger sustains head injury after semi takes turn too fast

A 9-year-old was transported to the hospital with a head injury after the truck they were riding in crashed while taking a turn too fast. 

The accident happened at 1:40 p.m. on Monday, January 2nd in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, north of Afton. 

According to KOAM News Now, 43-year-old trucker Scott Heronemus and his 9-year-old passenger were driving on wet roads when they took a left turn onto County Road EW 150. The truck then rolled and came to a rest on its side. 

Heronemus sustained only minor cuts to his arms, but the 9-year-old boy was pinned inside of the rig until emergency responders arrived. The boy was transported by EMS to Mercy in Joplin, Missouri with head injuries, reported Four States Home Page.

Officers say that Heronemus was traveling too fast for conditions at the time of the wreck. No further information has been released.
