‘A recipe for disaster’ — Truck driver used ‘less than half of the tiedowns needed,’ Iowa DOT says

Published:

Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement (MVE) called out a truck driver on Friday morning for insufficient tiedowns on their load.

From Iowa DOT MVE:

A recipe for disaster…

When you combine making a turn and not having enough working load limit for your tiedowns – cargo can quickly become road debris.

This shut down the interstate ramp and caused multiple traffic issues on the west side of the Des Moines metro yesterday as it was cleaned up. Unfortunately, the driver was utilizing less than half of the tiedowns that they needed.

Be safe out there everyone! Never know what you might come across during your travels.
