Arkansas opens truck parking area on I-40 with more than 80 spaces

Published:

On Tuesday, the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for an expanded commercial vehicle parking facility.

The expanded truck parking area is located on I-40 westbound, west of mile marker 275 in West Memphis, Arkansas.

The truck parking area was formerly a welcome center, officials said.

This parking facility will feature 84 spaces for overnight parking and help alleviate the truck parking shortage across the country, according to ARDOT.

The facility will include an Arkansas Highway Patrol Substation, according to West Memphis city officials.

The truck parking area was formerly a welcome center, officials said.

ARDOT spent $6 million on construction of the truck parking facility.
