Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement (MVE) is asking drivers to plan ahead as an oversized load moves through the Des Moines area on Wednesday.

According to Iowa DOT MVE, the oversized load will be passing from the Perry area to ADM in Des Moines on February 8.

The truck will travel on Highway 169 from Highway 141, Ethen head east on Highway 44/NW 70th through Grimes, then travel south on 86th Street in Johnston to Douglas, then east on Douglas/Euclid until Dixon and will ultimately end at ADM.

Officials say that drivers should anticipate slow-moving traffic in the area as the load passed through.

The oversized load is 180 feet long, 20 feet wide, 18 feet tall, and weighs 506,000 lbs.

“It doesn’t get around quite like your car!” Iowa DOT MVE said.
