Beer truck driver charged in double fatality crash in Virginia

Published:

Virginia State Police say that a truck driver was charged following a three vehicle collision in Stafford County on Wednesday.

The crash occurred at 4:42 a.m. on July 5 in the northbound lanes of I-95 at mile marker 136.

According to VSP, a northbound semi truck driver hauling a load of beer was traveling in the center lane. The truck driver attempted to move over into the right lane and struck a 2014 Nissan Altima.

This collision caused both the semi truck and the Altima to veer into the left lane and strike a 2010 Subaru Forrester.

Troopers say that all three vehicles went off the left side of the interstate and struck a guardrail.

The semi truck then flipped over on top of the two passenger vehicles.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries.

Both the Nissan driver and the Subaru driver died in the crash.

The truck driver, who was not identified by VSP, has been charged with reckless driving.

The crash remains under investigation. VSP asks anyone with information to contact them at 540-891-4108.
