A truck driver missing out of Maryland since June was unfortunately found dead in a wooded area by a fellow truck driver.
This week, Maryland State Police (MSP) confirmed that Pennyvania-based truck driver Jason Pearson, 42, was found late last month.
Pearson was last seen alive at midnight on June 13, 2023, near the Smithfield Food Distribution Center in the 2800 block of Principio Parkway East in North East, Maryland. He was waiting to pick up a load of refrigerated food items. His truck was later found at the Smithfield facility with his cell phones, truck keys, wallet, bank cards, and credit cards in the abandoned truck.
According to the Cecil Whig, around 9:30 p.m. on October 23, a truck driver walked into a wooded area near Smithfield Foods to relieve himself and discovered Pearson’s body.
Pearson’s family was contacted about a week later after the body was positively identified.
A search of the Smithfield foods property was performed June 14, but heavy foliage may have prevented search parties from discovering the body, police say.
MSP says foul play is not suspected.
An autopsy has been performed and toxicology results are pending.
