Brake failure sent semi truck crashing through hundreds of feet of guardrail, trucker says

A semi truck brake failure sent the rig crashing through a large portion of guardrail in Cajon Pass, California on Sunday afternoon.

The accident happened just after 12 p.m. on December 17th.

According to Pain in the Pass Traffic and News, the semi truck plowed through Cajon Pass while heading southbound on Interstate 15 between the truck scales and Cleghorn Road and struck hundreds of feet of guardrail. The truck then went down an embankment and landed in a wash near the freeway.

Investigators say that the semi truck hit at least one car in the accident. The truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the incident and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The truck driver told police that his brakes went out just before the accident. No further information has been released.
