BREAKING: Four rig, two car wreck results in I-81 closure 

UPDATE AS OF 3:40 P.M.: Two people have died and three others were injured in the accident. Initial investigations reveal that an SUV slammed into the back of a tractor trailer as it was braking for traffic, causing the chain-reaction crash. Two people inside of the SUV died. Two other people inside of the SUV were taken to the hospital. One of the truckers involved was also transported to a hospital. Their condition is not known.

A portion of Interstate 81 has been shut down for a wreck involving four tractor trailers and two cars in Maryland on Friday morning. 

The accident happened on I-81 near exit 10 on Showalter Road in Hagerstown, Maryland at around 9:30 a.m. EDT. 

At least one person is dead, and several others were injured in the accident. As of 11 a.m. EDT, all southbound and two northbound lanes of I-81 are shut down in the area, reported ABC 7.

No further information has been released.
