Cab of truck left balancing vertically after wreck with overpass

A semi truck was found with its cab jutting up into the air after a collision with an overpass in Washington on Thursday morning.

The accident happened on June 1st in Lakewood, Washington along Interstate 5 at approximately 3 a.m.

According to King 5 News, the semi truck was heading north on I-5 when it drove up a roadside embankment and collided with the Tacoma Way overpass. The force of the impact then caused the trailer to overturn and the cab to flip up in the air, coming to rest against the overpass structure.

The truck driver was taken to the hospital with only minor injuries. The cause of the wreck is still unclear, but investigators say that fatigue may have been a factor.

Three right lanes at mile marker 127 and the ramp to State Route 512 were blocked for investigation and cleanup of the incident.
