Cops will crack down on speeding during this year’s CVSA driver-focused blitz

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has released new information on this year’s Operation Safe Driver Week campaign.

This year’s Operation Safe Driver Week will be held July 9 — 15 in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

During the weeklong enforcement effort, police will be on the lookout for unsafe driving behaviors committed by both motorists and commercial vehicle drivers. Those caught violating the law will be pulled over and issued a warning or a citation.

The area of emphasis for Operation Safe Driver Week 2023 will be speeding. Speeding has been the area of emphasis for the past several Operation Safe Driver Week campaigns.

Officers will also be on the lookout for improper lane changes, passing or turns; driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol; using a handheld device; and failure to wear a seat belt.

During Operation Safe Driver Week 2022, law enforcement in Canada and the U.S. pulled over more than 35,000 commercial motor vehicles and passenger vehicles and issued 26,164 warnings and citations to commercial motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers.
