Couple awarded $44M for semi truck crash that left woman paralyzed

A couple was awarded $44M for a wreck with a semi truck that left the woman with a spinal cord injury.

The accident happened in 2016 at the intersection of the Indiana Toll Road and IN S.R. 49 near Valparaiso, Indiana.

According to Fox 32, truck driver Pedrag Radisavljevic rear ended a car at the traffic light, leaving Cynthia Kroft partially paralyzed. Both trucking companies involved in the accident – Viper Transportation and PR Rentals Incorporated – have admitted to negligence in the incident, but have denied the extent of Kroft’s injuries and damages.

This is the second jury trial regarding the 2016 accident, reported WIBC. The first verdict in 2021 was also in the Kroft’s favor and awarded them 43.5 million dollars. The trucking companies challenged that initial verdict, and have been instructed to pay $500,000 more in damages with this second verdict.
