One person is dead after a truck driver accidentally ran them over during a bathroom break in south Texas on Saturday.
The accident happened on February 11th at 9 a.m. on Route 77 near the Sarita-U.S. border checkpoint in Corpus Christi, Texas.
According to Kris TV News, the truck driver pulled over on US Route 77 to use the restroom beneath the trailer of the truck. Both the truck driver and their passenger, 59-year-old Tina Berki, got out of the truck to use the bathroom at different times.
The police report states that the unnamed truck driver “never realized” that Berki had left the truck cab and began driving as Berki used the bathroom beneath the trailer. Berki then became pinned beneath the trailer.
Police were called to the scene and Berki was pronounced dead. No further information has been released. Texas DPS says that the incident is still under investigation.
