A truck driver was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of meth after an officer pulled him over for not wearing a seatbelt.
The incident happened on Thursday, January 19th in Miami County, Indiana on U.S. 31 near Miami County Road 1150 South.
According to 16 WNDU, 58-year-old Todd Mills was driving a 2021 Freightliner Straight truck pulling a wood chipper on US 31 southbound when an Indiana State Trooper stopped him for not wearing a seatbelt. As the trooper spoke to Mills, he realized Mills seemed intoxicated and noticed signs of potential criminal activity.
Officers searched the Freightliner and discovered methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Further investigation revealed that Mills was allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine.
Mills was taken to the Miami County Jail and is facing criminal charges for allegedly operating a straight truck while under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Mills was working for Wright Tree Service Inc. in Des Moines, Iowa.
