A truck driver attempted to speed away from a checkpoint after agents discovered anomalies inside of his trailer in Texas late last month.
The incident happened at about 5:15 p.m. on December 22nd at the Interstate 35 checkpoint in Texas.
According to LMT Online, truck driver Jesus Victorio Garcia and a male passenger in a tractor trailer attempted to pass through the checkpoint when they were asked to drive through an x-ray. Garcia agreed to the inspection.
As the truck passed through the x-ray, agents observed multiple anomalies inside of the truck cab and ordered Garcia to stop, but the driver instead accelerated and fled the scene, making it to the highway.
Agents caught up to the vehicle on Interstate 35 at mile marker 40. Agents then searched the trailer and discovered 11 migrants hiding in the truck cab.
Garcia and the migrants were taken into custody. Garcia refused to provide a statement without an attorney present. No further information has been provided.
