Published:

A truck driver got a police escort the wrong direction on a Houston interstate after realizing his load would not fit beneath an overpass.

The incident happened at around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17th in Houston, Texas on Interstate 45 northbound at Allen Parkway.

According to ABC 13 News, the truck driver contacted police when he realized the load would not fit and was being escorted the wrong way on the northbound lanes of the Pierce Elevated by 8:30 a.m.

The rig was then escorted through a u-turn onto the Eastex Freeway exit ramp at about 10:20 a.m. before eventually making its way up to the North Loop. The truck eventually made its way back north on I-45, allowing traffic to flow normally by 10:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported. No citations were issued as a result of the incident. Police say that the driver accidentally missed his exit, leading to the clearance issue.
