Firefighters help cool 250 pigs stranded in broken down tractor trailer

Published:

Kansas firefighters helped to keep a load of pigs inside of a sweltering trailer on Tuesday.

The tractor trailer hauling the pigs broke down on August 22nd in Geary County, Kansas on Interstate 70 during a heat wave.

According to KWCH 12 News, the extreme heat and lack of airflow inside of the trailer caused the pigs to overheat as the truck hauling them waited for service. The fire crews used a small hose to spray the pigs down and help them stay cool.

The temperature on Tuesday reached 105 degrees with a heat index of 112.
