Five people are dead after a car smashed into an attenuator, causing a chain reaction crash.
The multi-vehicle accident happened at around 4 a.m. on June 26th in Long Beach, California on the northbound 710 Freeway near the 91 Freeway interchange.
According to KTLA 5 News, a dark colored sedan slammed into an attenuator, sending the car into the lanes of travel. Other vehicles then crashed into the wrecked car, including a semi truck on the shoulder that caught fire as a result of the incident.
The accident killed five people. The initial cause of the crash is not clear.
As of 6 a.m., only one lane of the 710 northbound freeway was reopened. The remaining three lanes will remain closed until further notice.
