FMCSA increases fines for trucker regulation violations

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced the annual fine increase for inflation for trucker regulation violations.

The FMCSA has announced an increase in civil monetary penalties for regulation violations to go into effect on December 28, 2023, when the Final Rule is published in the Federal Register.

In accordance with the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act of 2015, all federal agencies, including the FMCSA, must increase fines each year to account for inflation in order to “maintain their deterrent effect.”

See the table below for the new fine amounts.
