Four dead in chain-reaction crash involving two big rigs in Fort Worth

Fort Worth Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that claimed several lives on Monday night.

The crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. on September 11 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Authorities say that two passenger vehicles were involved in a minor collision on I-35W northbound. These vehicles pulled off to the shoulder of the interstate, and then a third motorist stopped to assist, partially blocking an active lane of traffic.

A northbound semi truck struck the vehicles.

A second northbound semi truck struck the first semi truck.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that four people died as a result of the crash as of Tuesday afternoon.

Two others are listed in critical condition.

Police have not yet released the identities of the deceased or injured.

Drugs, alcohol, and weather are not thought to be factors in the crash at this time.

The crash remains under investigation.
