Four dead in crash caused by big rig driver failing to yield right of way, Texas cops say

Published:

The Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) has released more information on a multiple fatality crash that occurred in Lamar County on Friday.

The crash occurred shortly before 11 a.m. on July 21 near Paris, Texas.

TXDPS says that Oklahoma resident Mary Cooper, 48, was driving a Toyota SUV south on US 271 when her vehicle was struck by a semi truck traveling west on FM 2648.

The crash caused the SUV to go under the semi’s trailer.

Police said that truck driver Clarence Fowler, 84, failed to yield the right of way at the intersection.

Cooper was killed in the crash along with the other three occupants of the SUV — Janet Carter, 61, Koolasha Green, 18, and a 16 year old male.

Fowler was not hurt.

The crash is under investigation.
