All lanes of I-10 at the New Mexico state line are now open following an extended closure caused by a crash, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).
Around 5 a.m. on Friday, May 5, ADOT announced that westbound I-10 west of Willcox is fully reopened after crews finished repairs to the US 191 overpass structure.
The interstate has been closed all week due to a semi truck collision that occurred shortly after midnight on May 3 just west of Willcox at mile marker 331 on westbound I-10.
“For unknown reasons, a tractor-trailer traveled off of the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, and collided with a support pillar for the overpass at US 191. The tractor-trailer was fully engulfed in flames, and the overpass pillar buckled,” Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) officials said.
The truck driver passed away at the scene.
