Iowa DOT reports catching hit and run truck driver who blew nearly 6 times the legal limit

Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement (MVE) says that a truck driver who was reported by several other drivers for hit and run and erratic driving also failed a Breathalyzer test by a wide margin.

In a January 11 Facebook post, Iowa DOT MVE described an incident that occurred on January 10.

The post reads:

We have no problem stating that this person does not deserve to hold a license, let alone a commercial driver’s license.

Yesterday, a driver hauling an oversize load of roofing trusses called in and stated that a driver of a CMV struck their load and then fled the scene. Following the initial call, multiple calls came in of a CMV driver all over the road. Thankfully, officers were able to get the driver stopped and subsequently administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. The driver ultimately blew almost SIX times the legal limit for a CDL required vehicle (although any amount is still a violation).

Regardless of what you are driving – drive sober or lose your license, get stuck with extremely high fines, and get an uncomfortable stay at a jail near you!
