Iowa DOT warns truckers to take care when buying trailers from auctions

Published:

Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement (MVE) recently shared a photo of a mangled trailer along with a warning about auctions.

On Friday, March 17, Iowa DOT MVE shared a social media post with the following message:

“Buying trailers from an auction can be a risky deal. Something may be wrong with the equipment that you don’t notice until you get it home. In this case, we are pretty sure everyone noticed the defect…

*This was not SAIA. The trailer was purchased at an auction *”

Facebook users were left amused but also wanting answers after perusing the unusual post.

The question is, was he put out of service or was he able to take it back to his shop for repairs or dismantling?” said one commenter.

Obviously it’s less than a truckload with that chunk missing,” another quipped.

Ah she’s good, new kind of open air dryvan,” joked another Facebook user.
