Jugs of liquid meth discovered during trucker’s trip through Georgia weigh station

Officers with the Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) found several jugs containing illegal drugs during a search of commercial vehicle at a weigh station.

The incident occurred at the northbound weigh station on I-85 in Lavonia, Georgia, when Georgia DPS Officer Mountain stopped a tractor trailer for an inspection, according to a March 7 release from Georgia DPS.

During the driver interview, Officer Mountain determined that the truck driver had a false report of duty status.

Officer Mountain brought in a drug-detecting canine unit to aid in the inspection.

The canine alerted to several areas on the tractor trailer, officials say.

When the vehicle was searched, officers found six separate 2.5-gallon jugs filled with clear liquid inside the vehicle’s cab.

The substance tested positive for methamphetamine.
