Kentucky weigh station to reopen with new flat/worn tire detectors, weigh in motion tech

Published:

A Kentucky weigh station that closed earlier this month will soon reopen with new upgrades to help CMV inspectors detect violations — even while vehicles are still in motion.

The weigh station is located on I-75 southbound approximately two miles north of Crittenden.

The weigh station was closed April 10, 2023, and the closure is scheduled to end on Friday, April 21.

During the closure, crews installed new technology, “including road and tire sensors, which can monitor commercial vehicles for flat/worn tires.”

Also installed is a a ‘weight in motion’, or WIM, system, which officials say “can make roads safer through intelligent enforcement.”
