Kentucky weigh stations open amid unsafe driver blitz

Kentucky State Police (KSP) Commercial Vehicle Enforcement is participating in a three day enforcement campaign designed to curb crashes involving passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles.

KSP is participating in the Operation SafeDRIVE enforcement effort taking place June 20 — 22. The purpose of Operation SafeDRIVE is to reduce unsafe driving behavior that often leads to crashes involving passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

As part of the effort, KSP will be paying special attention to commercial vehicle safety.

From KSP:

During this effort, KSP Commercial Vehicle Inspectors will open scale facilities, ensuring commercial drivers follow safety regulations, including hours of service compliance, commercial driver license compliance, medical certification, and commercial motor vehicle credentialing.

“It is important to our officers that everyone travels safely on our roadways,” said Douglas. “Operation SafeDRIVE is an opportunity for us to ensure drivers follow the rules of the road and offer tips to keep drivers protected.”
