Man arrested for allegedly firing multiple shots at big rig on I-10 in Louisiana

A man was arrested on Sunday in connection with a suspected road rage incident that occurred on a Louisiana interstate.

Twenty-seven year old Mississippi resident Monterio Gates was arrested on March 19 on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated cruelty to animals, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The charges stem from a road rage incident reported on the afternoon of March 19 on eastbound I-10 near Welch, Louisiana.

Gates is accused of opening fire on a semi truck traveling on the interstate, striking the vehicle multiple times.

No injuries were reported.

Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle in the Jennings, Louisiana, area. Gates was arrested without incident.

KPLCTV reports that five dogs were inside the semi truck when the shooting occurred, which led police to tack on the cruelty to animals charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
