Man arrested for illegally booting trucks in Georgia, report says

A Georgia news outlet says that a man was recently arrested for illegally booting trucks while drivers slept and then demanding hundreds of dollars to remove the devices.

Jahdiel Israel was charged with theft by deception and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to a Thursday report from WSB-TV.

The outlet says that Israel was involved in a scheme in South Fulton, Georgia, that involved booting trucks that were parked at the Clean Energy gas station.

The store allows drivers to park alongside the curb overnight after fueling, but the report claims that Israel would wait for the drivers to fall asleep, then boot their trucks and wake the driver, demanding around $600 to remove the boot.

The booting scheme finally came to an end when truck driver Latimore Rogers called the gas station regarding their parking policy and learned that the company does not boot trucks or charge for parking.

Rogers then called police, who found Israel inside a vehicle the Clean Energy parking lot.

“He said ‘We got to boot your truck. You got to pay us before I can take this boot off.’ He had boots on a lot of trucks. A LOT of trucks,” Rogers told WSB-TV.
