Man arrested for shooting at semi truck on Indiana interstate

A motorist is facing felony charges for allegedly opening fire on a moving semi truck during a road rage incident on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Indiana State Police (ISP).

Shortly before 12:30 p.m. on April 26, ISP received a 911 regarding road rage and shots fired on southbound I-65 at mile marker 180 in Tippecanoe County.

Troopers learned that the victim was driving a semi truck and the suspect was driving a black Chevy Tahoe.

The truck driver was uninjured and told by police to pull off at a safe location.

ISP then received another 911 call regarding the road rage incident from Kevin Perfetti, 53, who was later identified as the Tahoe driver. Perfetti was also instructed to pull off the road at a safe location.

Troopers determined through investigation that there were several firearms in the Tahoe.

“Further investigation revealed that Perfetti was involved in the initial road rage incident with the semi-truck and fired at least one shot from the Tahoe. Perfetti was safely taken into custody and transported to Tippecanoe County Jail by Trooper McQueary,” ISP said.

Perfetti is facing the following charges:

  1. Criminal Recklessness with a Firearm – Level 5 Felony
  2. Intimidation with a Firearm – Level 6 Felony
  3. Pointing a Firearm – Class A Misdemeanor

The incident remains under investigation.

This is the second I-65 shooting in Indiana this month targeting a semi truck.
