Man crushed while working on trailer at a business in Massachusetts on Wednesday morning.
The accident happened on December 27th just before 9:30 a.m. in Westborough, Massachusetts at 4400 Computer Drive.
According to Patch News, the man was working on the trailer when it suddenly collapsed, trapping him beneath the equipment.
“We found the male trapped underneath a 53-foot trailer from a tractor-trailer,” Chief Patrick Purcell with the Westborough Fire Department said to ABC 5. “The male appeared to be working on the landing gear when there was some issue with that.”
Emergency crews were called and attempted to save the man’s life and raise the trailer using air bags, but were unsuccessful. Crews were unable to remove the man’s body from underneath the trailer for an “extensive amount of time” and crews had to request backup to handle other emergency calls in town, reported 7 News Boston.
“The trailer was loaded with water, which complicated the call due to the weight within that trailer,” Purcell said.
The victim’s name, along with other details surrounding the incident, has not been released. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident.
