Man fatally struck by turning big rig in South Carolina truck stop parking lot

Published:

A man was killed on Wednesday after he was struck by a semi truck in a South Carolina truck stop parking lot.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. on November 1 at a Love’s truck stop in Blacksburg, South Carolina.

Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler says that 29 year old Florida resident John Victor Vanslytman was on a stepladder while performing a repair on a pickup truck in the parking lot.

A semi truck entered the Love’s parking lot and struck Vanslytman as the truck driver attempted to make a turn.

Vanslytman was pinned between the pickup and the semi truck.

First responders administered aid, but Vanslytman passed away at the scene.
