‘Mass casualty’ crash involving truck reported on I-70 in Ohio

A serious multi-vehicle crash shut down I-70 in Ohio on Tuesday morning.

Around 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, first responders were dispatched to I-70 near SR 310 in Licking County, Ohio.

Fox 8 reports that a semi truck rear-ended a commercial bus in the westbound lanes of I-70 at the Smoke Road underpass.

Images captured at the scene show that there are vehicles on fire.

Dispatchers have categorized the crash as a mass casualty incident, level 3, meaning that at least 10 people are injured.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says that I-70 is closed in both directions at SR 310. There is currently no estimated time for the interstate to reopen.

It isn’t yet clear how many vehicles were ultimately involved in the crash or how many people were injured.
