Mexican government seizes and destroys 14 pickups and CMVs modified into ‘narco tanks’

Officials in Mexico recently shared eye-popping photos and video of cartel-modified trucks that were recently seized and destroyed.

On Sunday, June 18, the Mexican attorney general’s office shared images of “narco tanks” that were seized in Tamaulipas, where warring cartel factions are prevalent.

The vehicles are standard heavy duty pickups and CMVs with steel plates welded on to create “armor” to withstand gunfire and explosions. Other vehicle modifications include battering rams and openings for shooters to use from inside the “tanks.”

The seized vehicles look like something from the “Mad Max” movie series, but Mexican military officials say that they are hard to maneuver and require transport on another vehicles in order to move long distances.

The seized vehicles were destroyed by the Mexican government in Reynosa, Mexico, near McAllen, Texas.
