Michigan troopers issue alert for man who shot at and set fire to multiple patrol vehicles

Michigan State Police (MSP) are looking for a suspect who destroyed multiple police cruisers on Wednesday morning.

According to MSP, the incident took place at 3:30 a.m. on September 6 at the Sault Ste. Marie Post headquarters.

Police say that a white male wearing camouflage fired on four patrol vehicles with a rifle and lit the vehicles on fire.

No injuries were reported.

Three of the four vehicles are considered to be a total loss, according to local news outlets.

The Sault Ste. Marie Post will be closed on Wednesday, but all other MSP posts will remain open.

Troopers say that the suspect was driving a silver Honda CRV and was last seen traveling southbound on I-75 Business Loop.

“We ask everyone to remain vigilant. If you see something, say something,” MSP said.

If you have information, you’re asked to call MSP at (906) 632-2217, or call 911.
