More than $1 million worth of marijuana seized from semi at Texas border crossing

Published:

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently seized hundreds of pounds of marijuana from a commercial vehicle at a Texas border crossing.

The drug seizure happened on Thursday, March 9 at the World Trade Bridge, in Laredo, Texas.

A CBP officer referred a 2008 Freightliner tractor trailer manifesting a commercial shipment of uncoated paperboard for secondary inspection.

Using non-intrusive imaging systems and a canine unit, CBP officers found 454 pounds of alleged marijuana within the vehicle.

CBP seized the drugs and handed the case over to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for investigation.

The estimated street value of the seized marijuana is $1,015,992.

“Frontline officers at the World Trade Bridge demonstrated exceptional effort in effectively disrupting this drug smuggling attempt,” said Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “Their targeting strategies have helped reduce the flow of illicit drugs into the country.”
