Motorist fatally struck by passing tanker truck in string of wrecks that stretched a quarter mile

A person was killed by a passing semi truck after stepping out of their car following a multi-vehicle wreck.

The series of crashes happened near Bothell, Washington on January 17th at around 4:25 a.m. on southbound Interstate 405. 

According to KIRO 7 News, a car on southbound I-405 near the Bothell Everett Highway/State Route 527 exit suddenly veered into the barrier on the right side of the highway. The car then bounced back into traffic, where it was struck by two cars. The driver of the first car then exited his vehicle, and was soon hit and killed by a passing tanker truck. 

A total of six vehicles were involved in the string of incidents, which spanned over a quarter mile. Officials blocked all lanes of southbound Interstate 405 were blocked at the Interstate 5 interchange for cleanup and investigation of the incident. 

No further information has been released.
