Motorist flees ambulance after deadly wreck that took the life of a truck driver in Virginia.

The accident happened in Woodbridge, Virginia on Sunday morning at around 5 a.m. on Interstate 95 near the 156 mile marker.

A sedan and a FedEx tractor trailer collided in the southbound lanes of I-95. The tractor trailer then “struck the pillar supporting the flyover ramp, which caused the trailer to rip open and lose its contents,” reported the Virginia State Police.

According to WTOP News, the truck driver died at the scene. A short time later, the motorist fled the crash scene on foot “while he was being treated by EMS at the scene.”

Neither the truck driver or the motorist have been publicly identified, but officers are still searching for the now-missing motorist.

Traffic on southbound I-95 was limited to one lane near the crash scene until around 3 p.m. that afternoon.

A Crash Reconstruction Team is participating in the investigation.
