Motorist impaled by load of logs after following too close

A woman is dead after being impaled by a load of logs in an accident in Florida early on Tuesday morning. 

The accident happened on July 18th in Yulee, Florida at 12:45 a.m. on State Road 200 at Felmor Road. 

According to Action News Jax, a log truck was traveling east on State Road 200 with an SUV following close behind when the rig stopped at a traffic light. The motorist was not maintaining a safe distance and collided with the back of the trailer when it came to a stop. 

The force of the collision caused the load of logs to pierce through the driver’s side of the car. The 25-year-old female motorist was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. 

The truck driver was not hurt in the incident. No information on possible citations has been released.
