Motorist raging at lumber truck delivery ends up accidentally shooting himself

A motorist upset over a traffic delay due to a lumber delivery ended up accidentally shooting himself in Georgia late last week.

The incident happened at around 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, February 9th, on Buchanan Highway in Dallas, Georgia.

According to WSB TV, a group of workers were making a lumber delivery to a business on Buchanan Highway with two men in vests directing traffic while the trucker maneuvered the truck into the business.

“The suspect/aggressor, who was clearly impatient and annoyed by the delay, got out of his vehicle and threatened the men who were directing traffic by pointing his gun at them,” deputies said. “As the suspect was getting back into his vehicle, Deputies believe he accidently shot himself in the hand as he was re-holstering his pistol.”

The man who shot himself then apparently told witnesses to call 911 and left the scene to get help. The man has been identified, but has not yet been interviewed by police, who are waiting for him to be discharged from the hospital before continuing the investigation.

It is not yet clear if the motorist will face charges. Anyone who may have audio or video recordings of the incident is asked to call the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 770-443-3047.
