Motorist’s driver-swap causes collision with big rig 

A motorist’s attempt to switch places with a passenger is responsible for a collision with a semi truck on Thursday. 

The accident happened on Thursday, May 11th in Genesee County near Batavia, New York. 

According to 13 ABC, the driver of a Toyota Corolla was heading westbound on the New York State Thruway when they started to get tired and decided to pull over. The sudden move caused a semi truck to hit the back of the car, which sent the car spinning across the road and into a guardrail. 

The driver of the car sustained a minor injury but no other injuries were reported. New York State Police say that the motorist was attempting to switch places with a passenger in the car to avoid driving tired. 

The crash caused a backup for several miles east of Exit 48 in Batavia. It has since been cleared.
