Multiple shots fired at big rig on Indiana Toll Road

Published:

Indiana State Police (ISP) are asking for public help in locating a person who opened fire on a semi truck this week.

At 6 p.m. on November 7, 2023, ISP received a call from the driver of a white Freightliner who believed that his vehicle had been shot by the driver of a passenger vehicle on the Indiana Toll Road (I80/90) in Elkhart County.

ISP investigators believe that the truck driver and the motorist became involved in a road rage incident in the eastbound lanes of the Indiana Toll Road near mile marker 94.5.

“During this incident both vehicles slowed or stopped exchanging words before the semi drove off, continuing east.  The driver of the passenger car then allegedly caught up to the semi and fired multiple rounds striking the semi as it passed,” ISP said.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The suspect vehicle is described as a gray or darker colored passenger car, possibly with an Indiana temporary license plate.

If you have information or dash camera footage, you’re asked to call Indiana State Police Detective O’Keefe at 574-206-2931.
