Multiple violations found on log truck pulled over because it ‘looked overweight’

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) recently discovered multiple safety violations on a truck hauling a load of Poplar logs.

According to Georgia DPS, Officer Norwood stopped a truck in Coweta County this week because “it looked overweight.”

The truck driver told Officer Norwood that the load was Poplar trees and that it was “probably light.”

“Well, it was not; the weight of the CMV was 109,350 pounds,” Georgia DPS said.

Further inspection showed that the CMV had a wheel with a cracked rim, flat tire, and loose strap, and one wheel had four out of ten wheel fasteners (Lug nuts) loose.

“The driver’s only concern was getting unloaded so he could go to the shop to fix his driver’s door, which was unable to be opened. Great work Officer Norwood!,” Georgia DPS said.
