California police are searching for a suspect who allegedly stole a semi truck and used it to ram a police cruiser on Monday morning.
Around 12 a.m. on Monday, police in Ontario, California, attempted to stop a semi truck for missing license plates in the area of South Archibald Avenue and Mission Boulevard.
Police learned that the truck had been reported stolen out of San Bernardino.
The suspect in the semi truck refused to yield and a police pursuit began on the eastbound 60 Freeway.
The suspect then exited off the freeway in the Riverside area and reportedly rammed a police cruiser with the semi truck, causing the cruiser to become disabled and trapping an officer inside.
Police responded to the ramming by firing on the truck.
The suspect fled the truck on foot.
The suspect is still at large as of the morning rush hour, according to police. Police are using helicopters and canine units to search for him.
