The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) is investigating a major crash that occurred on an I-35 ramp on Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on January 5 on a ramp from Loop 410 to southbound I-35.
SAPD says that the driver of an 18 wheeler lost control and crashed, causing the truck to flip onto its side, soon becoming engulfed in flames.
Witnesses and first responders were able to help the truck driver to safety, but a passenger was inside the cab as well and police believe that he is deceased
The truck driver suffered only minor injuries.
The truck was hauling spools of metal cable.
The ramp is expected to remain closed through Thursday evening.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
